1girl, solo, standing, legs apart, arms on own hips, looking at viewer, smile, short hair, parted bangs, kendo uniform, white dougi, white hakama pants, barefoot, kendo armor, black dou, black tare, doujou, from behind, over-shoulder composition, head turned back over shoulder, white gi sleeves, wide stance, bare feet on wooden floor, dojo interior, watercolor_(medium), paper_texture, Viewed from behind and slightly to the left, the girl stands square to the far wall of the doujou but her head is turned back over her right shoulder so her face comes into view across the line of her shoulder — she looks straight at the viewer and smiles, a bright open-lipped smile that creases the corner of one eye, one eyebrow lifted a little higher than the other. Her short hair is cropped close at the nape above the collar of the white dougi, its ends feathering outward where they escape the wrap, and her parted bangs split over the brow so the forehead shows cleanly between them. Her arms are bent with both hands set flat on her own hips, elbows flared out, fingers pressing into the white cloth at her waist; the black lacquered dou sits square on her chest, its plate laced and catching a thin highlight along the top edge, and the black tare hangs in lacquered panels over the white hakama, which flares in stiff pleats down to her bare ankles. She stands with her weight even and legs apart, both bare feet planted directly on the polished floorboards — heels slightly raised on the balls of the feet, toes spread, the pale insteps picking up the light. The doujou interior holds: pale plaster walls, a dark wooden wainscot running the length of the room, high louvered windows along the upper wall, and a low rack of practice gear pushed to the left edge of the frame. Cool grey-white daylight rakes in from the high windows on the right, laying a bright band across the floorboards and along the right side of her hakama; the shadows falling from her body stretch diagonally left across the boards, and the dojo's far wall sits in shadow behind her. Her cast shadow is soft where the light is diffused by the louvres and crisp where it passes the window frame, and the floor's polish gives back a faint, dimmed reflection of her bare feet and the hem of the hakama beneath her — darker and blurrier than the figure itself. Palette runs cool and restrained: pale plaster white, the deep varnished browns of the wood, the clean white of the gi and hakama, the black of the dou and tare, and the warm neutral of her skin and hair, with nothing saturated competing. Loose watercolor linework bleeds slightly at the edges of the pleats and the armored plates, washes pooling a little darker in the seams of the floor, the paper texture showing through the light areas of the wall. Composed and quietly confident.
