Low-angle three-quarter view from the foot of a narrow stone stair, tilted a few degrees so the steps rake diagonally across the frame: a single girl stands two risers up, turned slightly toward the lens, weight settled on her right leg while her left knee stays soft and her left heel lifts off the stone, the toe of her boot gripping the step's edge. Both arms are raised to chest height in a cat-paw pose -- elbows bent outward, wrists limp, both hands loosely curled into soft fists bracketing her cheeks, the oversized black wrist cuffs sliding down toward her forearms so their frilled edges hang free above each fist. She is caught mid-blink: both eyelids are shut, dark lashes pressed together in two clean curved lines over her cheeks, and her mouth is closed in a flat, faintly self-satisfied line. Her gaze, though the eyes are shut, is aimed straight out of the frame at the viewer, chin tipped down because of the low angle. Long black hair falls past her waist, parted so one thick lock drops straight between her eyes down the bridge of her nose; the rest swings slightly forward off her shoulders with the small motion of the blink. A black gothic hood covers the back of her head, pushed back far enough to leave her bangs free, and from its top rise two pointed fake cat ears, each furred ear stitched to the hood's seams and lined with dark violet fabric inside. The costume is a black frilled bodice cropped high to bare the midriff and the navel, cut low at the chest in a deep scoop that shows cleavage, edged all along its hems with layered black frills; a dark ribbon bow is knotted at the center of the neckline, its tails hanging over the bare skin. Below, a black frilled miniskirt flares over her hips, and beneath it black thighhighs climb her legs, held by thin garter straps that cut visibly across the bare band of thigh, leaving a crisp strip of skin between stocking top and skirt hem -- that zettai ryouiki catching the light. Behind her hip, a fake cat tail arcs up and out, its tip tied with a small ornament of dark ribbon and a bell-less bow. She stands on the stone stair between a black iron lamppost in the left foreground and a wrought-iron lantern hooked to it, the lantern's warm amber flame the only light: it throws her shadow long and steep down the steps to the right, gilds the left edge of her jaw, her raised knuckles and the front of one thigh, and leaves the far side of her hood and the back of the stairwell in near-black. Dry autumn leaves are scattered on the treads and caught along the stair's iron rail, curled and brittle, orange-brown where the lantern reaches them and black beyond it. The night above the stairwell is deep indigo with no visible moon; beyond the lantern's pool the darkness is absolute. Palette held to black, deep indigo night, warm amber lantern glow and the rust of dead leaves; cool blue-violet only inside the cat ears and in the deepest shadows. Mood: mischievous Halloween mischief, quietly theatrical.
