Teto was still slightly out of breath after the final high note. Miku waved energetically toward the audience. MEIKO, KAITO, Len, and Rin also stepped forward. The huge screen at the front of the stage was still glowing. Happy Birthday Lily The golden letters had not disappeared. And the sea of golden-yellow glow sticks in the audience was still swaying like a field of stars. “Lily—!” “Happy birthday—!” “Lily—!” One voice after another called her name from the audience. Lily had been smiling at first. But when she finally looked up at the entire venue, her expression gradually softened. Everything was so bright. So beautiful. Really.” She looked out over the audience. “Thank you to every single person who came here today.” “Thank you for singing with me.” “Thank you for turning the entire venue into something this beautiful.” The sea of golden-yellow glow sticks began to sway gently. Rin already had an expectant look on her face. “What about me?” “Thank you for always being so happy.” Rin blinked. Lily smiled. “When I see you having that much fun, I start feeling happier too.” Rin immediately beamed. “Then I’ll be even happier today!” “Aren’t you already happy enough?” Len commented from beside her. Lily laughed and looked at everyone once more. “Anyway—” She took a deep breath. “Thank you. Really.” “I love singing.” “And I love standing onstage.” “But if none of you were here, and if none of the people sitting out there today were here…” She paused. “Then even the biggest stage in the world wouldn’t mean as much as this one does tonight.” The venue fell silent for a moment. Then the audience erupted into even louder cheers than before. “Lily—!” “Happy birthday—!” “We love you—!” Lily’s eyes widened slightly. KAITO and MEIKO waved toward the camera. Miku smiled brightly. Luka stood beside Lily. Gakupo stood on her other side, smiling toward the camera. “One!” Lily stood at the very center. She raised one hand high. And in the final second before the shutter clicked— she, the other eight people onstage, and the entire audience shouted together again. “Happy Birthday—!” “Lily—!” Click. Mikuが客席へ向く。 「それじゃあ——」 「三つ数えるよ！」 KAITOが続けた。 「ステージの上だけじゃない。」 MEIKOも手を上げた。 「会場全部で一緒に。」 Lilyもようやく意味がわかった。 思わず笑う。 Gakupoが小さな声で言う。 「準備はいい？」 Lilyはうなずいた。 「うん。」 Mikuが手を上げる。 「いち——！」 会場全体が一緒に叫ぶ。 「いち——！」 「に——！」 「二人とも、喧嘩しない。」 KAITOは少し右へ移動した。 「ここでいい？」 「もう少し近づいて！」 カメラマンが叫ぶ。 GakupoとLukaも中央へ寄る。 ようやく九人がLilyの周りに集まった。 でもカメラマンはまだシャッターを切らなかった。 代わりに後ろを指さす。 「客席も一緒に！」 Lilyは振り返った。 巨大スクリーンは、すでに会場全体を映す広角映像へ切り替わっていた。
