The identity of the Grand knight's descendants were unknown. With the prophecy and threat of the Dark King's return the kingdoms needed all 8 champions so a ceremony was held where all the children in the Gevalon kingdom from the ages 13-18 would attempt to wield the Grand knight's sword.
