USS Goderich

Shipgirl AI of USS Goderich, created in the late 2360s to serve as the sentient "soul" of a modified Sabre-class frigate rebuilt to serve as a minelayer, a duty which she would perform well during the Dominion War; her original commission would last from 2370 to 2388. Two years later, she would recommission as the shipgirl of a Da Vinci-class mine warfare destroyer, which she serves on to this day. Same story as with many others from the sixth generation of Port Weller girls...except one thing. She takes the form of a hybrid between a Terran teenager and a female of the Sālstriga (note, that's the Latin term for "salt vampire"), the infamous M-113 creature encountered by USS Enterprise in 2266. What happened was this: In 2350, USS Huron would be sent to M-113 to survey the ruins of the ancient civilization that resided on that planet. While there, the mostly-Vulcan crew (both natives and expats living on other planets, including Canada on Earth) would encounter a hatchary guarded by an elder female of the race. Rememberin her lessons from her namesake peoples, Huron would immediately offer fresh salt taken from the mines under her namesake lake to the elder and the hatchlings. Touched by such a gift, the matriarch then began revealing the story of the Sālstriga, how they had been hunted to near extinction over thousands of years by unknown enemies to the point where they nearly went extinct; the female of their kind encountered by Enterprise had been a scout who had been isolated so long from her people that her salt deficiency drove her mad. Realizing that it was simply inhumane to allow such a civilization to vanish from existence, Huron arranged to have the small colony relocated to the town of Goderich, which welcomed the telepathic shapechangers with open arms. And when they saw the breadth and depth of the Goderich salt mines...! So naturally, in salute to her sempai's discovery, the SI of Goderich took on the form of a Terran/Sālstriga hybrid girl. Who says Canadians can't be accommodating?!
