Viewed from above at a dynamic high angle, the spirited oni girl leans eagerly forward toward the viewer with her knees bent in an energetic mid-bounce. Her head tilts playfully to the side as her right hand flashes a crisp peace sign beside her cheek, while her left arm trails back, sending the voluminous fabric of her detached sleeve fluttering in the air. Two smooth, pale skin-covered horns curve gracefully upward through her fine white hair, which bleeds into vivid crimson streaks and ends, tied on one side into a high bun secured with a miniature decorative oni mask ornament and dangling scarlet cord tassels. Her wide ruby-red eyes look directly up at the viewer with bright, teasing affection, her open laughing mouth displaying a prominent sharp upper canine tooth over rosily flushed cheeks. Her attire is an off-the-shoulder white and vermilion traditional Japanese garment leaving her neck and collarbones bare, bound around the midriff by an elaborate twisted rope sash with decorative braided knots. She balances on the polished timber planks of a sunny engawa veranda; warm afternoon sun slants in from the upper left, casting the sharp, moving silhouette of her billowing sleeves across the floorboards. The sudden momentum of her forward lean sweeps a cluster of loose cherry blossom petals into the air around her skirts, suspended mid-flight above the grain of the wood. Radiant, mischievous.
