Iris let out a nervous laughter, a faint smile on her face. 「あは……は……はは……」アイリスは顔に微かな笑みを浮かべ、引きつった笑い声を漏らした。 "...thanks.." A mumble under her breath, one she'd never admit to. 「……ありがと」口の中で小さく呟く。絶対に認めようとはしないだろう言葉。 ..A teasing smile would flash momentarily on Dystean's face in response. ……それに応じるように、ディスティアンの顔に一瞬、からかうような笑みが浮かんだ。 "Though I never took you as someone to publish something so risque. Some of those poses— Even I'd be far too ashamed to do those" She said as she'd quickly hide her smile. 「でも、あんたがそんなきわどい写真を出すような人だとは思わなかったな。いくつかのポーズなんて、私だったら恥ずかしすぎて絶対に無理」彼女は素早く笑顔を隠しながら言った。 "I— You—" Her friend's face lit up as if a lightbulb with its switch flipped, if only lightbulbs were bright red, "Wh—" even though she knew there was nothing risque in that magazine, she had read it dozens of times herself before it was published after all. 「あ、あんた──」友人の顔は、まるでスイッチが入った電球のようにパッと明るくなった。もしも電球が真っ赤に染まるものだとしたらの話だが。「な──」実際のところ、その雑誌にはそんなきわどい内容など一切ないと知っているはずだった。出版される前に、自分自身で何十回も読み返していたのだから。 ..In her own nervousness and panic she had somehow managed to forget that fact. ……あまりの緊張とパニックで、彼女はどういうわけかその事実をすっかり忘れてしまっていた。 "I—" 「わ、私は──」 A gentle flick to the forehead, "..Joking, of course." Said Dystean, before she'd laugh a little, "Did you really get risque photos taken for it?" She asked whilst wiping a tear from her eye. おでこを軽く小突かれる。「……冗談に決まってるでしょ」ディスティアンはそう言って小さく笑った。「本当にそんなきわどい写真、撮られてたりしたわけ？」目元に浮かんだ涙を拭いながら彼女は尋ねた。 "O—of course not!" Said the bright red lightbulb, the red starting to fade from her face. 「あ──当たり前でしょ！」真っ赤な電球と化した彼女は言った。その赤みがようやく顔から引き始める。 "..Then why'd you react like that?" Still laughing. 「……じゃあ、なんでそんなリアクションしたの？」まだ笑いながら聞く。 "Because you confused me!" A frustrated tone, "..And I reacted perfectly normally thank you very much" 「あんたが混乱させるようなこと言うからでしょ！」悔しそうなトーン。「……それに、私はいたって普通にリアクションしました。大きなお世話です！」 Dystean had stopped laughing by this point "..Yeah, sure. Perfectly normally" A faint giggle. ディスティアンはこの時点で笑うのをやめていた。「……はいはい、そうだね。いたって普通にね」クスクスと小さく笑う。 "..Oh shut up.." 「……もう, うるさい……」 "..and I'd never do something like that" Iris said in a faint voice. 「……それに、私があんなことするわけないじゃん」アイリスはか細い声で言った。 Dystean responded by walking ahead of her, "I know, goofball. Come on, we're gonna be late for work." ディスティアンは彼女の前を歩き出しながら応じた。「分かってるよ、おトボケさん。ほら早く、仕事に遅刻しちゃうよ」 "..I'm not a goofball!" She'd follow behind her friend, realizing something as they walked faster, "...And stop flicking me!" 「……おトボケさんじゃないっ！」彼女は足早になる友人の後ろを追いかけ、歩きながらあることに気づいた。「……あと、おでこ小突くのやめて！」 ...Laughter, was what she got in response. It was fun, truly. Those days, it felt like in the whole world, the only two that mattered were us, like out of the entire race, our existences were everything. ……返ってきたのは、笑い声だった。本当に楽しかった。あの日々は、世界中で私たち二人だけが意味を持つ存在であるかのように思えた。全人類の中で、私たちの存在こそがすべてであるかのように。 Until that day. That. Damned.. Day... あの日が来るまでは。あの。忌々しい……日の……。
