Her dark forest-green hair is styled into two braided side buns secured by slender hairpins with dangling beads, while straight blunt bangs brush her brow and fine side tendrils frame her cheeks. Across the bridge of her small nose, a constellation of faint freckles stands out against pale skin. Her deep violet-blue eyes gleam with sharp, obsessive curiosity as she inspects a dried medicinal sprig pinched delicately between the thumb and index finger of her right hand, her lips parted in an eccentric, satisfied smirk accompanied by a faint flush across her cheeks. Her left elbow presses firmly into the dark tabletop to carry her forward lean, the wide sleeve of her pale jade and cream crossover-collar hanfu rolled securely back to keep the forearm bare. In front of her, a shallow granite mortar holds crushed botanical matter, with fine powdery residue adhering strictly to the concave curve of the stone; beside it, a woven bamboo tray cradles brittle dried roots that curl upward away from the wicker weave. Behind her looms a tall medicine chest filled with dozens of small wooden drawers fitted with brass pulls. Warm afternoon sunlight angles through an off-camera paper lattice window, casting distinct diagonal geometric grid shadows across the timber surface and illuminating suspended dust motes. The palette harmonizes muted celadon, bleached linen, and deep mahogany with warm amber highlights. Obsessive fascination.
