Story - Camp Life [Part 12]

As Addams, Mirei, and Mei-Lin walk down the path through the woods, they come across Akinori and Morris, who are also on their way back to the campsite. “Hey, Aki! Morris! Over here!” Mirei calls out to the two and gains their attention. As the two wave back, Mirei runs off to greet them in person. “Aki! Morris! Did you have any luck with getting the radio tower repaired? Please say you did! Pleeeeeeeease? “We sure did, Mirei. Between the supplies we had on hand, plus Akinori's assistance, we've got the radio up and running! As a matter of fact, we just finished a dial out test and we were able to reach out to a nearby trading post.” Akinori adds to the conversation. “The radio works just fine, Mirei. You should be able to dial out and get that message from your mother as early as this evening...well, assuming you have a voice message waiting for you.” Mirei's eyes light up with excitement. She jumps into Morris's arms and kisses him on the cheek. “Oh Aki, Morris, you two are the best! Thank you so much! Ooooh, I can't wait to hear from my mother and baby brother!!! Morris appears a little thrown off by Mirei's affectionate gesture. Morris looks over to Akinori, to which Akinori shrugs. “The reward is all yours, Morris. You did most of the work today. I was just the assistant.” Morris, with a slight blush to his face, chuckles and rubs the back of his head with one hand. “Well, um, it's not that big of a thing, Mirei. I'm, uh, I'm a licensed electrician and most of the work was wiring. I-It's all routine work for a guy like me. Heh heh heh. Addams and Akinori have a good laugh a Morris's predicament. Mei-Lin is unsure of what's going on, but as she is trying to make sense of the situation in front of her, something else captures her attention... ...a distant and unfamiliar sound... Mei-Lin is the first to notice this sound, quickly followed by Addams. After a few seconds, both Akinori and Mirei turn their heads towards the distant yet approaching sound. Shortly thereafter, the sound is noticeable enough for Morris to hear it. Mei-Lin points to the sky, towards the source of the noise. “Uncle Addams! Uncle Morris! What's that in the sky? Mirei and Akinori look to the sky, hoping to make out what Mei-Lin was pointing at. Morris and Addams though, they were quick to identify the source of the noise...and it is a cause of concern for the both of them...
