Future Hand in Hand - Vocaloid 神威がくぽx巡音ルカ

💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 Night wrapped itself around the heavens. Countless stars twinkled across the vast firmament, and the sea of clouds rose and fell gently with the breeze, like a boundless silver-white ocean. Kamui Gakupo and Megurine Luka had walked a stretch along the observation deck's long corridor, and still they had not let go of each other's hands. The promise they had just made seemed to linger like a warm afterglow between their clasped fingertips. Now and then Luka would turn her head slightly to glance at him, and every time, Gakupo happened to be looking at her too, making her smile despite herself. "Gakupo." "Mm?" "Shall we fly out and take a look around?" Luka raised her free hand and pointed to the sea of clouds stretching to the edge of the sky. There, a few small islands floated in the air, glowing flowers growing upon them, silver waterfalls pouring from the cliff edges only to dissolve into fine specks of light before touching the clouds. Gakupo followed her gaze, then smiled. "How far would you like to fly?" "Hmm..." She pretended to think for a moment. "To somewhere we don't usually go. How about that?" "It sounds like you already have a destination in mind." "I don't, really. I just want to fly with you, and where we end up doesn't seem all that important." Gakupo looked down at their joined hands and gave them a little swing. "In that case, I'll help you decide the direction." Luka's eyes curved into crescents. "You can't be the one who decides every time, you know. We'll be deciding lots of things together from now on, so you have to listen to my ideas too." "As you command." "You can't say it like you're accepting an assignment." "Then..." Gakupo leaned down slightly, bringing his face closer to hers. "Dear Luka, would you do me the honor of letting me accompany you to see the distant stars tonight?" His deliberately softened voice carried a hint of playfulness, though his violet eyes were full of tenderness. Luka laughed, amused by him. "I would, dear Gakupo." When she finished, she even gave the back of his hand a little pinch. "But you have to keep holding my hand the whole time." "We only just promised that. How could I possibly forget?" Gakupo spread the three pairs of wings behind him. His six wings unfurled in the moonlight, a faint purple glow rising along the edges of the pure white feathers. Luka spread her own six wings in turn, her long pink hair drifting in the wind, her pristine white wings and the folds of her robe both catching the starlight. They exchanged a smile, then slowly rose from the edge of the observation deck. They didn't hurry to gain speed. Hand in hand, they simply flew leisurely above the sea of clouds. The heavens receded below them, the white halls turning into a gentle sea of light in the night. In the distance, crystal bridges spanned the clouds, and several floating islands gave off a faint fluorescence, like tiny gardens adrift in a river of stars. Luka felt the breeze against her face, and her spirits grew light along with it. "This feels so nice." "Do you like this kind of wind?" "I do. Especially when I'm with you." Gakupo turned his head and found her gazing into the distance, a contented smile on her lips. "Then in the future, we can come out flying like this often." "Really?" "As long as we both have time." "What if you're busy?" "I'll make an effort to arrange my time." Luka turned to look at him. "What if I'm the busy one?" "Then I'll come find you and ask when you'd be willing to keep me company." "What if I still don't have time?" Gakupo thought about it, then answered earnestly, "Then I'll wait until you're done, and fly with you then." Luka's gaze softened. She wasn't really testing him. She had simply wanted to know, suddenly, whether in the long years to come, when they were no longer as carefree as tonight, when the duties each of them bore made their days busy, they would still be able to keep these simple joys. And Gakupo's answer put her at ease. He hadn't claimed he would never be busy, nor asked her to set everything else aside. He had simply told her, earnestly, that even if life sometimes forced them apart for a while, he would still keep a place for their time together. "Then I'll do the same." Luka raised their clasped hands slightly and leaned lightly against him. "If you're busy, I'll wait for you. If something is troubling you, I'll help you work it out. And when we're both free, we'll fly even farther together." "It sounds like we'll have many places to go." "Of course we will." Her eyes lit up. "We can go see the farthest river of stars, visit those sky gardens that only bloom at night, and watch the seasons change in the human world. I want to know whether cherry blossoms in spring look different when seen from the sky than the way we usually see them." "Then let's go see them together." "And the snow in winter. I want to fly over the mountains with you while it's snowing, and watch the whole land covered in white." "All right." "And also..." Luka paused, as though she had truly begun planning their future journeys in earnest. Gakupo didn't rush her, simply flying slowly alongside her. "And what else?" he asked gently. "I'd also like to watch the sunrise with you." She lifted her gaze toward the distant horizon. "Not from the observation deck, but the two of us flying above the sea of clouds, arriving there before the sun rises. And then, holding hands, we'd watch the first light illuminate the entire sky." Gakupo's gaze rested on her face. "That would surely be beautiful." "How do you know? We haven't been there together yet." "Because you'll be beside me." Luka was momentarily stunned, then wore a smile that was a little helpless yet couldn't hide her delight. "You're doing it again." "Doing what?" "Saying things that make my heart race." Gakupo's lips curved upward. "I'm only answering your question." "You know perfectly well that what you say is against the rules." "Then would you like me to say less from now on?" "Absolutely not." Luka answered at once, and only after saying it realized she had been too quick, so she looked away, a little embarrassed. Gakupo gazed at her flushed cheeks, his smile deepening, but he didn't tease her further. He simply held her hand more steadily and flew with her through a bank of soft mist. When they emerged from the clouds, a dazzling river of stars suddenly appeared before them. Countless points of light drifted slowly across the deep blue night sky, as though someone had woven silver threads into the cosmos. The stars in the distance alternated between bright and dim, reflecting the figures of the two seraphim, as if they were flying along an endless road of light. Luka unconsciously slowed down. "Gakupo, look." She said nothing more, simply holding his hand tighter. Gakupo followed her gaze. "It's beautiful." "Right?" "Mm." He paused, then added, "But right now there's something I'd rather look at." Luka turned her head curiously. "What?" Gakupo turned sideways to face her, keeping the same flying pace. "Your eyes." Luka blinked. "My eyes?" "They have starlight in them." He gazed into her deep blue eyes, his voice low and gentle. "I want to remember this. Later, after we've gone to many places and seen many beautiful sights, I hope I'll still remember the expression you wear when you see something you love." Luka looked at him quietly, and an indescribable warmth welled up in her heart. She suddenly felt that the future she longed for might not need to be filled with surprises every single day. As long as he was willing to see her joy, and willing to let her see his feelings, then even just flying hand in hand through the familiar sea of clouds would become a memory worth treasuring. "Then I want to remember you, too." She moved a little closer and studied his face intently. "I want to remember the look you have right now, and the kind of light that fills your eyes when you look at me." Gakupo raised an eyebrow slightly. "Then what do you see?" Luka answered with a smile. "I see someone who likes me very much." "Only that?" "And someone who is so gentle, yet always likes to tease me on purpose." "I see." "And also someone..." She paused, holding his hand, her gaze gradually growing earnest. "someone I want to walk with through very, very long years." Gakupo's expression softened. He didn't answer right away, but slowly drew close and let their foreheads touch lightly. Their six wings spread out amid the river of stars, the feathers trembling faintly in the currents of their flight. The two of them hung for a moment in the brilliant night sky, their clasped hands never parting. "Luka." "Mm?" "I've thought about our future." She raised her eyes and listened quietly. "I hope we can keep watching over the human world, keep seeing those lives worth cherishing, and that after we finish all our duties, we can return to each other's side." Gakupo's thumb gently stroked the back of her hand. "I want to welcome every sunrise with you, and to watch the stars with you when you're tired. I want to hear about everything you encounter each day, and I want you to know that even if there are feelings I'm not good at expressing, I'll try my best to tell you." He smiled faintly. "And most importantly, I hope that many years from now, when we talk about tonight again, you'll still remember that I once held your hand and imagined our future with you." Luka's eyes grew a little moist, yet a happy smile bloomed on her lips. "I'll remember." She reached out her other hand and gently touched his cheek. "And from now on, every time we fly together, I want to talk with you about something new. Today it's our future journeys, tomorrow it's the things we want to do, and the day after, the wishes we haven't even thought of yet." "Then we may never finish talking." "Wouldn't that be nice?" Luka asked with a laugh. "Because we have so, so much time to tell each other everything slowly." Gakupo gazed at her and finally couldn't help chuckling. "You're right." He lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Luka closed her eyes, and only after he drew back did she take his hand again. "Let's go." "Where would you like to go?" She looked toward the other end of the river of stars, anticipation sparkling in her eyes. "Let's go see the sunrise." Gakupo glanced at the distant horizon, not yet lit, then looked back at her. "Right now?" "Mm. We'll still have to fly for a while, but we can keep talking as we go." "Then let's take our time walking this road." "It's flying, you mean. Take our time flying." "Right, flying." They smiled at each other. Then their six wings unfurled at the same moment, the pristine white feathers casting a soft glow beneath the starlight. Hand in hand, they flew toward the far horizon, their figures passing through the clouds and over the floating islands, advancing toward the dawn that had not yet risen. Along the way, Luka thought of new wishes. She wanted to see the cherry blossoms of the human world with Gakupo, to listen to him tell stories beneath the stars, and, on some ordinary night in the future, simply to sit beside him and do nothing at all. Gakupo took every word she said to heart, and told her his own hopes in return. He hoped that one day he could take her to see a sea of stars she had never seen before; that when she was busy, she could safely hand her weariness over to him; and that no matter how many years passed, the two of them could still reach for each other's hands as naturally as they did now. Some of those wishes were grand and some were small, but they cherished each one. For they had finally understood that walking toward the future together did not mean knowing all the answers in advance, but being willing, even before reaching the destination, to share everything along the way with each other. When the distant horizon began to glow with a faint gold, Luka turned to look at Gakupo. "We're really about to see the sunrise." "Mm." "You know what? I'm already looking forward to the next time we fly together." Gakupo smiled and tightened his grip on her hand. "Then next time, you choose the destination, too." "All right. But this sunrise, you have to watch all the way to the end with me." "Of course." Luka gently leaned her head against his shoulder and flew with him toward the slowly brightening sky. The first light of morning was about to pass through the sea of clouds. And before that light truly arrived, the two seraphim in love still held hands, talking about the roads they had yet to travel and sharing their hopes with each other. They didn't know how many beautiful sights the future would hold. But they had already promised. Every future departure, they would make together; every new landscape, they would share; every time they set out toward the unknown distance, they would remember to look back at each other. For to Kamui Gakupo and Megurine Luka, the loveliest form of the future had never been only the vast river of stars and the endless sky. It was that no matter how far they flew, they would always hold each other's hands, and head together toward the next tomorrow.
