The single light source is the spill from the passing house windows and the jack-o'-lanterns: warm orange from the low left falls on the children's faces and along the dog's green flank, the adults are rimmed in warm light along their near edges, and the sky above is a flat, near-black navy with no stars. Long soft shadows of the children stretch away up the street to the right, deformed by the road's crown. Candy wrappers underfoot glint where the pumpkin light catches their foil. Trick-or-treat warm and a little sly.
