copyright: to_love-ru 1girl, solo, mature female, very long yellow hair, bangs, round green eyes, round glasses, white kimono, japanese ghost style, yuurei, floating, pumpkins, bats, jack-o-lanterns, halloween atmosphere, from below, looking down at viewer, floating hair, wide sleeves, obi, tabi, ghostly pale hands, candlelight, dutch angle, night, soft glow, seen from a low angle looking up, a single woman hovers a foot above the ground in the drifting way of a Japanese ghost: her body has no weight on any surface, both feet in white tabi hanging loose with the toes pointed down, the hem of her white kimono falling straight in the still air. Her kimono is ghost-white and closed properly at the throat with its narrow collar crossed left over right, a plain white obi at the waist, and the sleeves hang long past her wrists, their openings dark. Her hair is very long and yellow and floats around her shoulders and behind her back in slow separate strands that never touch the floor, bangs lying across her forehead; behind her the strands drift out to either side, thinner than they should be. Round glasses sit on her nose, and behind them her round green eyes look down the angle of the shot straight at the viewer, lids steady, lips slightly parted as though she has just spoken. Both pale hands are folded one over the other at her chest, fingers loosely interlocked. Around and beneath her the halloween night closes in: two jack-o-lanterns with carved jagged grins sit on the ground below the camera line, their inner flames the warmest thing in the frame and their light pushed up under her chin and along the undersides of her sleeves, so every upward-facing fold of white cloth takes a warm edge and every downward face of it goes cool and grey. A scatter of whole pumpkins rests in dark grass at the frame's lower margin, and bats cross the upper part of the picture in flat black silhouettes, their wings caught mid-beat, a few of them crossing in front of the moon's cold disc in the top corner. No shadow falls from her feet; instead the candlelight throws two stretched pumpkin-shaped shadows sidewards across the grass, and she casts nothing. The palette holds to ghost-white, pumpkin orange and the blue-black of midnight, with yellow confined to her hair and the small flames. Fine mist hangs at ground level and thins her lower hem where it meets the dark. Quietly uncanny.
