The palette holds orange, black and purple — orange in the bowl, the crepe spiral and a few wrappers; black in the bats, the door's shadow and the deep room beyond; purple in the fairy-light cord and the pooling shadows around the chair — with the dark wood floor as ground. Detail is spent on the bowl's rim, the crumples and glints of the candy pile, and the sag and anchoring of the paper garlands; the far room stays simplified and dark. Quietly expectant.
