Instead, the vivid blue and purple tones from the previous performance gradually softened into a warm golden glow. YOHIOloid assumed it was just an ordinary transition between songs—until a cheer louder than usual suddenly rose from the audience. He looked up. “What’s going on?” Miku was obviously struggling to hide her smile. “You’ll find out soon.” Before YOHIOloid could ask anything else, the large screen at center stage switched to a birthday-themed display. Golden points of light slowly gathered together, forming a familiar message— Happy Birthday YOHIOloid Then, a beautifully decorated birthday cake was brought onto the stage. Black, white, and gold made up the main color scheme, with roses, ribbons, and tiny musical-note decorations arranged around it. The candlelight looked especially warm beneath the golden stage lights. YOHIOloid stared at the cake for several seconds. “How much did you all prepare…?” Teto answered immediately. “It’s a birthday! Of course there has to be cake!” Rin smiled. “And it’s seriously beautiful!” Len looked over the decorations. “When I first saw it, I thought it suited you really well.” YOHIOloid laughed. “What does a cake that ‘suits me’ even mean?” Len thought for a moment. “Like… it looks really fancy?” “That doesn’t sound like a compliment.” “It totally is!” Everyone burst out laughing. --- Miku turned toward the audience. “Now that the cake is here, everyone probably knows what comes next, right?” A huge response immediately came from below. “Yes—!” Miku’s smile grew even brighter. “Then today, it shouldn’t just be us saying it.” She looked at YOHIOloid. “Let’s all give him our birthday wishes together!” The audience’s glowsticks lit up like a sea of stars. YOHIOloid looked a little surprised. He had thought this would simply be a normal birthday segment. But when the entire venue gradually quieted down, waiting for the wishes to begin, he suddenly had no idea where to look. Gakupo spoke first. “YOHIOloid.” YOHIOloid turned toward him. Gakupo’s voice was as calm and steady as ever. “Before your next birthday arrives, I hope you’ll continue singing the songs you truly want to sing.” He paused briefly. “And I hope you never forget the music you originally loved just because you feel you have to meet someone else’s expectations.” YOHIOloid was quiet for a moment. Then he smiled sincerely. “Thank you, Gakupo.” --- Luka spoke next. “My wish is actually very simple.” YOHIOloid looked at her. Luka smiled. “I hope you stay safe and healthy, and that every stage you step onto from now on leaves you with memories worth looking back on happily.” “And—” She glanced around. “Don’t spend all your time working and singing. Remember to rest once in a while too.” YOHIOloid laughed. “Why did this suddenly turn into advice about my daily routine?” “Because some people need reminding.” MEIKO naturally added from beside her, “I agree with that.” “Even you, MEIKO?” Everyone laughed again. --- When it was Miku’s turn, she thought for a moment. “Hmm… for mine…” Teto immediately said, “Aren’t you usually the best at this?” “That’s exactly why I don’t know which thing to say first! I have too much I want to say!” Miku laughed, then looked back at YOHIOloid. “Okay. Then I hope you get to sing lots and lots of songs you love this year too.” “You can sing when you’re happy, and you can sing when you’re not.” Her voice softened slightly. “And when your birthday comes around again next year, I hope you can smile and tell us, ‘This year was a good one too.’” YOHIOloid looked at her. A few seconds later, he smiled and nodded. “I like that wish.” Miku immediately returned to her usual bright tone. “Then you have to make it happen!” “Now I feel pressured.” “You shouldn’t!” --- Teto had clearly been waiting for her turn. “Me next!” She cleared her throat. “I hope that this year, YOHIOloid gets to—” Everyone waited. “Eat something delicious every single day!” The stage went quiet for a second. YOHIOloid looked at her. “That’s it?” “That’s important!” Teto replied as if it were obvious. “If you eat good food every day, you’ll be in a good mood. If you’re in a good mood, you’ll sing better. If you sing better, everyone will be happy!” KAITO laughed. “That’s surprisingly logical.” “See?” YOHIOloid laughed too. “Fine. I’ll accept that wish.” --- KAITO spoke next. “Then I hope you keep meeting lots of people you want to sing with.” YOHIOloid became a little quieter. KAITO continued. “One voice can sound beautiful by itself, but when many voices come together, they can create music that didn’t exist before.” He glanced at the others onstage. “Like today.” YOHIOloid followed his gaze. “…Yeah.” He answered softly. “Today really has been great.” --- MEIKO kept hers simple. “I hope you become a little more confident in yourself.” YOHIOloid blinked. “Do I really look that insecure?” “Sometimes.” MEIKO answered without hesitation. “Especially after you finish singing. You always start thinking about what you could have done better.” YOHIOloid had no response. Because she was completely right. MEIKO smiled. “Being serious is a good thing.” “But sometimes, you should also allow yourself to think, ‘I did well today.’” YOHIOloid was quiet for a few seconds. “…I’ll try.” “Good.” --- Rin spoke next. “I hope YOHIOloid has lots of happy things happen every day!” Len immediately asked, “Isn’t that a little ordinary?” “Ordinary things are important!” Rin shot back. “Not every birthday wish has to sound amazing.” YOHIOloid laughed. “I think it’s a good one.” Rin immediately looked pleased. “See?” Len sighed with a smile. “Then mine is that you always have something new to look forward to.” YOHIOloid turned toward him. Len continued, “A new song, a new stage, new friends—or even just something small.” “If there’s always something worth looking forward to, life probably won’t feel boring, right?” YOHIOloid smiled. “That’s a good one too.” Rin immediately asked, “What about mine?” “Yours was good too.” “That’s more like it.” --- After all eight of them had finished, Miku turned toward the audience again. “And next—” She deliberately paused. “It’s everyone’s turn!” The venue immediately erupted in cheers. The sea of glowsticks filled YOHIOloid’s vision once more. Voices began calling out from different parts of the audience. “Happy birthday, YOHIOloid!” “Keep singing forever!” “Thank you for your music!” “Have a happy year!” “Take care of yourself!” “We’ll always support you!” More and more voices joined in. Some were perfectly in sync. Others came from so many different directions that it was impossible to tell where they originated. Some fans were so excited that their words became almost impossible to understand. But YOHIOloid kept listening. To every single one. Finally, Miku said softly, “Okay. One last time, all together.” The entire venue seemed to know exactly what to say. After a brief silence— countless voices rang out at once. “YOHIOloid—Happy Birthday!” The sound filled the entire venue. YOHIOloid stood beside the birthday cake and, for a moment, said nothing. The golden candlelight reflected in his red eyes. Gakupo did not rush him. Luka simply smiled quietly. The others waited too. Finally, YOHIOloid spoke again. “…Thank you.” Just two simple words. But his voice was softer than when he had been singing. “I always thought a birthday concert was just about singing lots of songs together on your birthday.” He looked out toward the audience. “But now it feels like it’s more than that.” The crowd gradually quieted. “Today, someone prepared a cake for me.” “Someone prepared presents.” “Someone took a group photo with me that looked nothing like a promotional picture.” Miku laughed softly. YOHIOloid smiled too. “And so many people told me happy birthday.” He paused. “So I think…” “I’m probably going to remember this birthday for a very long time.” Applause and cheers rose from the audience again. YOHIOloid glanced at the candlelight on the cake. Then he looked at the eight people beside him. “Thank you.” After that, he turned his gaze back toward the audience. “And thank you to every single person who came here today.” The cheers rose once more. But the birthday segment was not the end of the concert. Behind the stage, the lighting team was already preparing for the next song. The cake remained at center stage, its candles still glowing quietly. Miku smiled. “All right, the birthday wishes are done.” Teto immediately asked, “So can we eat the cake now?” “You’re still thinking about that?!” Everyone burst out laughing again.
