Ch19 - Une scène, deux cœurs
💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 One Stage, Two Hearts The two of them remained standing by the railing of the private box. The story on stage continued to unfold. The lights changed along with the turning points of the story, and the actors’ voices echoed throughout the theater. Luka and Gakupo occasionally observed the stage through their opera glasses. Sometimes, they lowered them and quietly exchanged their thoughts. Their voices were very soft. As if they did not want to disturb the other audience members. Yet they could not help wanting to share their feelings with each other. --- On the stage. The male lead finally understood the answer he had been searching for. But he still remained where he was, lacking the courage to move forward. Luka watched this scene. She slightly frowned. “He already knows what he truly wants.” She whispered softly. “Why is he still unwilling to take a step forward?” Gakupo looked at the stage. After a moment of silence, he said: “Because sometimes…” “Knowing the answer and truly making a choice are two different things.” Luka turned her head toward him. “Do you think he is afraid?” Gakupo nodded. “Yeah.” “He is afraid of change, and also afraid that after reaching out his hand, the result may not be what he hoped for.” Luka listened quietly. Then she looked back toward the stage. “But if he does nothing, he might lose it forever.” Gakupo smiled slightly. “That is why people hesitate.” --- The music began again. The two characters on stage finally met once more. But they did not immediately speak the words hidden in their hearts. They simply stood before each other. Looking at one another. Luka could not help softly saying: “They really are alike.” Gakupo looked at her. “Alike?” Luka nodded. “They clearly have so much they want to say.” “But they do not know where to begin.” Gakupo did not answer immediately. He only looked at the stage. After a moment, he softly said: “Maybe because the more important something is, the harder it becomes to say aloud.” Luka’s gaze paused slightly. She did not disagree. She only lowered her head and looked at the opera glasses in her hands. --- After a while. The female lead on stage began singing a solo. Luka spoke again. “Do you think she truly forgave him?” Gakupo thought for a moment. “I think…” “Not completely.” Luka looked surprised. “Not completely?” Gakupo nodded. “She still has regrets.” “But she is willing to listen to him again.” Luka looked toward the stage. A smile slowly appeared on her face. “So you think forgiveness is not about forgetting?” “Mm.” Gakupo answered. “It is about being willing to give the other person another chance to come closer.” Luka remained silent for a moment. Then softly said: “That kind of thought…” “Is very gentle.” Gakupo was slightly surprised. “Really?” Luka nodded. “Yes.” “Because many people only remember where they were hurt.” “But you first see why the other person acted that way.” Gakupo looked at her. His gaze became gentle. “Because everyone has their own reasons.” “It is just that some reasons may not always be seen by others.” --- The story on stage reached its climax once again. Their discussion gradually became deeper. From the characters’ choices, to the emotions within the music, and then to the feelings the story wished to express. Sometimes Luka shared her own perspective. Gakupo listened quietly until she finished, then added his thoughts. Sometimes Gakupo mentioned a detail. Luka would show a surprised expression. “You noticed even that?” Gakupo smiled. “Because I thought you would like it.” Luka was slightly startled. “How did you know?” Gakupo looked toward the stage. His tone was natural. “Because when we watched the opera last time, I noticed.” “You care about these small details.” After hearing that, Luka did not say anything. She only looked at him. She suddenly realized. What Gakupo remembered was not only the opera. He also remembered the way she saw the world. --- The melody on stage continued to flow. The two of them remained by the railing. Neither was in a hurry to end the conversation. Neither was in a hurry to move closer. They simply watched the stage together. Sharing the story they saw through each other’s eyes. And through each discussion, they slowly discovered— What they truly wanted to understand was not only the characters on the stage. But also the person standing beside them. « Tu as remarqué même cela ? » Gakupo sourit.
