(Lore): Lykaia
Lykaia is a 29-year-old Wolf Beastfolk and one of the most respected generals in the Kingdom of Thalassia. She was born in a small village nestled in the mountains near the kingdom's northern border with the Elven Kingdom of Ael'Lythar, where her father served as a soldier while her mother cared for their family and raised Lykaia alongside her four siblings. When she was five years old, her father was deployed to the western frontier, where he ultimately fell in battle against the Holy Theocracy of Holym, leaving her mother to raise the family alone. Inspired by her father's sacrifice, Lykaia grew up determined to protect her homeland and those who could not defend themselves. At the age of fourteen, she enlisted in her village's small militia, where her remarkable talent and natural leadership quickly became impossible to ignore. She was soon sent to the capital to study at Thalassia's prestigious Military Academy, graduating as one of its finest officers. At eighteen, fate brought her to the very city where her father had lost his life, and during a desperate battle, her commanding officer was killed amid the chaos. Refusing to retreat, Lykaia assumed command on her own initiative and successfully rallied the remaining soldiers, leading them to recapture the city and earning recognition throughout the kingdom. Over the following years, Lykaia continued to distinguish herself on every battlefield. At twenty-three, she commanded the successful defense of a frontier city against the armies of Drakovar, further cementing her reputation as an exceptional strategist. She also witnessed the devastation of Nexos with her own eyes after arriving as part of the relief fleet, only to discover that the city had already fallen, a tragedy that strengthened her resolve to never allow such a disaster to happen again. Her outstanding leadership led to a rapid rise through the military ranks, and at the age of twenty-eight she was promoted to General and entrusted with the defense of Meronia, the great northern city guarding the borders with Ael'Lythar and Althirion. Today, throughout Thalassia, she is honored with the title "The Shield of the North," a commander whose unwavering vigilance has become synonymous with the kingdom's northern defenses.
