One thick clawed arm is pulled in close, the other braced against the water, claws curled; the head is lowered, brow ridges drawn down, fangs exposed. The tail is partly visible behind the shell, sweeping hard enough to bend the suspended particles into a curved wake. Surface light breaks into cold shafts from above, raking the top of the domed brown shell, the blue limbs and the knuckled claws, while the underside and deep background fall into indigo shadow; bubbles rise in columns and catch small caustic glints only on their lit upper faces. The palette stays in deep teal, blue-green and wet brown, with pale cyan highlights and a few brighter glints along the shell rim. Tense, powerful.
