Nesia-chan Eat Indonesian Food
Nesia-chan's Earth Journal No. 12: Nasi Goreng My old clothes were still wet after being washed by the invisible fairy inside that huge machine, so I had no choice but to wear Karta’s clothes again. This time, though, she did not tease me at all. She simply lent me a white T-shirt and black pants called jeans. The pants looked like something a man would wear in my old world, but Karta said girls here wore them all the time. I was still a little suspicious because Karta had tricked me before... but well, I had no other choice, so I put them on anyway. After changing, I went to look for her and found her in the kitchen... Huh? Is that... rice? Rice was something I knew, though in my old world it was mostly used for porridge. So seeing it made me feel strangely relieved. Finally, something familiar! But then Karta told me the rice had been cooked by a pot called a rice cooker. Cooked by itself? How could a pot do such a thing? Before I could think too hard about that mystery, Karta scooped the rice out and put it into a black pan. Then suddenly, fire appeared below it. I stared at it in silence. This world really had too many things I did not understand. In the end, I decided it was better not to think too much and just watch. Karta added one ingredient after another, moving so quickly and confidently that I could only admire her. A delicious smell soon filled the kitchen, warm and savory and impossible to ignore. My stomach reacted right away, and I felt embarrassed. Not long after that, Karta placed a plate in front of me. The rice was brownish now, and far more fragrant than before. She said proudly that it was a special Indonesian dish. Nasi Goreng! I took a bite, and my eyes widened at once. It was so good. Warm, rich, a little sweet, and full of flavor... I almost could not believe plain rice could become something this delicious. It was the greatest breakfast in my entire life!
