Elena Arce

Elena Arce was one of many workers under the "indentured servitude" regime—a status shared by her entire family ever since Dolorosa fell under the control of the Board of Directors. She was not so much a wage earner as the actual property of UmbraSec; consequently, upon coming of age, she was assigned an unpaid position serving the company. Initially, she worked as a low-level administrator within the renowned "Golden Spire," but she was eventually—and unfortunately—reassigned to serve as the "Secretary" to the Redeemer Daeva herself at the "Spire of Sorrows." Elena soon discovered that managing Daeva’s affairs was a far more demanding task than anything she had done before; she had to fend off any attempts to drag Daeva into various operations while simultaneously monitoring the movements of Dolorosa’s most notorious assassin. Naturally submissive, Elena struggled to meet these demands and lived in constant fear of being dismissed from her post—or suffering a worse fate. However, for reasons unknown to her, Daeva eventually began addressing Elena by name, striking up casual conversations and attempting to maintain a "standard" professional relationship. Daeva would keep Elena informed of many—though not all—of her movements and activities during the "excessive free time" she spent at the Spire of Sorrows (her personal residence). Elena continues to perform her duties to the best of her ability, though the civil war gripping Dolorosa threatens to inevitably draw Daeva into the conflict—a situation Elena is trying to prevent. For her part, Daeva has become increasingly elusive, a change Elena attributes to a growing sense of unease within the Redeemer.
