Più Vicino a Te - Kamui Gakupo Megurine Luka

💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 Closer to You Summer nights always feel more like dreams than daytime. Warm yellow paper lanterns hung along both sides of the stone steps leading up to the shrine. Whenever the wind blew, their shadows swayed among the leaves, like a sea soaked in moonlight. Tonight was the annual summer festival. The streets were filled with people. The fragrance of takoyaki, the sweetness of grilled corn, and the caramel scent drifting from the candy stalls all mingled together in the evening breeze. Among the crowd, Kamui Gakupo was particularly conspicuous. He wore a deep-purple yukata, tied with a darker obi around his waist. His long hair was simply gathered behind him. Even surrounded by people, he looked like a quiet wisteria vine growing beneath the night sky. At the moment, however, he was looking down at his phone. “She said seven o’clock at the torii.” Gakupo looked up at the large torii gate at the entrance to the shrine. It was now seven-oh-three. “Three minutes.” He sighed softly. “That shouldn’t count as being late.” “Who said I was late?” A familiar voice came from behind him. Gakupo turned around. Megurine Luka stood several steps away. She wore a pale-pink yukata, with tiny white flowers embroidered along the sleeves and hem. The sash around her waist was a soft reddish-purple. Her long hair fell over her shoulders, catching the festival lights and taking on a faint golden glow. She held a small drawstring pouch in one hand and an umbrella in the other. Not because it was raining. She simply claimed that the moon was too bright tonight and she didn’t want it making her face look so red. At least, that was what she had told herself. “Seven-oh-three.” Gakupo held up his phone. “I’m not late.” Luka lifted her chin. “There’s no rule saying you have to arrive exactly at seven.” “So you admit you’re late.” “…” Luka glared at him. Gakupo couldn’t help laughing. “Come on.” “Where?” “Wasn’t it you who asked me to come?” “I just wanted to watch the fireworks.” Luka turned and began walking deeper into the festival. “Having someone accompany me was just a bonus.” Gakupo followed beside her. “So I’m just a bonus.” “Of course.” “I thought I was specially invited.” Luka’s steps faltered for the briefest moment. She didn’t turn around. “…You’re thinking too much.” But the tips of her ears were already bright red. The two of them walked side by side into the crowd. The festival was even livelier than they had expected. Goldfish scooping, shooting games, mask stalls, yakisoba, and cotton candy lined the street. Children ran through the crowd carrying tiny paper lanterns, their laughter ringing like silver bells. Gakupo stopped in front of a shooting stall. “Want to try?” Luka glanced at the prizes. “Can you do it?” “I don’t know.” “Then why did you ask?” “That’s why I want to try.” Luka smiled. “Fine.” Five minutes later, Gakupo stared expressionlessly at the row of prizes, every single one of them completely unharmed. The stall owner was struggling not to laugh. Luka, meanwhile, was crouched beside him, laughing so hard that her shoulders were shaking. “You… you were aiming so carefully…” “I did it on purpose.” “You deliberately missed?” “Yes.” “Why?” Gakupo was silent for a moment. “Because I wanted to see you laugh.” Luka’s laughter stopped abruptly. “…” She slowly stood up. “Did you eat something strange today?” “No.” “Then why do you keep saying weird things?” Gakupo only smiled. In the end, they didn’t win a single prize. Instead, as they were leaving, Luka bought a candy apple from a nearby stall. “Want some?” She held it out to him. Gakupo looked at her. “Didn’t you buy it for yourself?” “It’s too big to eat alone.” “And?” “We’ll share it.” She said it casually. But her heartbeat was anything but casual. Gakupo took the candy apple. “All right.” He bit into it. The hard sugar coating made a crisp crack. “Is it sweet?” Luka asked. “Very.” “Then let me try.” Gakupo instinctively held the candy apple out to her again. Luka froze. “You already took a bite.” “Yes.” “So how am I supposed to eat it?” “Here.” Gakupo pointed to the other side. “Bite it from there.” “Oh.” Luka lowered her head. She had only intended to take a casual bite. But when she saw the spot he was pointing at, she suddenly stopped. It was the exact place where Gakupo had bitten it. “…” She looked up. Gakupo was looking at her too. Their eyes met. The festival was still noisy all around them, yet for that one moment, everything seemed to fall silent. “What’s wrong?” Gakupo asked. “Nothing.” Luka quickly looked away. “It just feels… strange.” “What feels strange?” “It’s just…” She spoke quietly. “Indirect kissing.” Gakupo froze. So did Luka. What had she just said? “…” “…” “I didn’t mean it like that.” “I know.” “You obviously don’t.” “Mm.” “…” Luka bit her lip. “Forget it.” She closed her eyes, as though she had finally decided to throw caution to the wind, and gently bit the candy apple where Gakupo had bitten it before. The sugar coating cracked between her teeth. “…It’s sweet.” She whispered it. Gakupo didn’t answer. Because his ears were red too. They continued eating the same candy apple, taking one bite each. Neither of them mentioned what had just happened. And yet, somehow, they gradually moved a little closer to each other. Then a loud boom suddenly echoed from the mountain. “Boom—!” The first firework burst above the shrine. Golden light instantly illuminated the night sky. The crowd erupted in cheers. “It’s starting.” A second firework followed, then a third. Red, blue, and silver-white lights exploded across the darkness, scattering into countless glittering fragments. Gakupo wasn’t looking at the fireworks. He was looking at Luka. The light from the fireworks reflected in her eyes. They were brighter than the night sky itself. “Luka.” “Hmm?” “Do you like fireworks?” She didn’t answer immediately. After a moment, she nodded softly. “I do.” “Why?” “Because they’re beautiful.” “Is that the only reason?” Luka quietly gazed at the sky. “No.” She said, “Because even though they only last for a moment, they can make you remember them for a very long time.” Gakupo followed her gaze toward the sky. A huge purple firework was blooming above them. “Then what about tonight?” “What?” “Will you remember tonight for a long time?” Luka turned her head. She saw Gakupo looking at her with complete seriousness. “…Maybe.” She answered. “If there’s something worth remembering.” “Like what?” Luka said nothing. She lowered her eyes to the candy apple in her hand. Only one last piece remained. She held it out to Gakupo. “The last bite.” “You don’t want it?” Luka shook her head. “We’ll have half each.” “How do we split it?” Luka thought for a moment. Then she smiled. “It’s easy.” She held the candy stick between them. “We bite it together.” Gakupo froze. Fireworks blossomed above their heads. The voices of the crowd drifted around them. The two of them leaned closer at the same time. Their teeth met the same candy apple from opposite sides. The distance between them was so small that they could feel each other’s breath. Luka’s eyes widened. Gakupo didn’t look away either. Then, at that exact moment, the largest firework of the night exploded overhead. “Boom—!” Brilliant white light swallowed the entire sky. And it swallowed the last bit of distance they could still pretend existed between them. When the fireworks faded, the candy apple was gone too. Only an empty wooden stick remained. Luka lowered her head. “…Now it’s really gone.” “Yeah.” “Will there still be fireworks next year?” Gakupo looked at her. “The candy apple?” Luka shook her head. “The fireworks.” “There will be.” “Good.” She smiled. “Then let’s come together again next year.” Gakupo didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he reached out and gently tucked a strand of hair, tousled by the evening breeze, behind her ear. “All right.” Fireworks continued blooming across the night sky. And that night, neither of them said the word “love.” But once something has happened, there are some things two people can never pretend were merely coincidences. Like sharing the same candy apple. Like two people standing too close beneath the fireworks. And like— that small flutter of a heart that quietly began on the brightest night of summer. “Volevo solo guardare i fuochi d’artificio.” “Vuoi provare?” Luka diede un’occhiata ai premi. “Sei capace?” “Non lo so.” “E allora perché me l’hai chiesto?” “Proprio per questo voglio provare.” Luka sorrise. “…” Si alzò lentamente. “Hai mangiato qualcosa di strano oggi?” “No.” “Allora perché continui a dire cose strane?” “Allora come dovrei mangiarlo?” “Qui.” Gakupo indicò l’altro lato. “Dagli un morso da lì.” “Oh.” “Niente.” Luka distolse rapidamente lo sguardo. “È solo che… mi sembra strano.” “Cosa ti sembra strano?” “È che…” Disse piano: “Un bacio indiretto.” Gakupo rimase immobile. Anche Luka. Che cosa aveva appena detto? “…” “…” “Non intendevo in quel senso.” “Lo so.” “È evidente che non lo sai.” “Mmm.” “…” Luka si morse il labbro. “Lascia perdere.” Luci rosse, blu e bianco-argentee esplosero nell’oscurità, disperdendosi in innumerevoli frammenti scintillanti. Gakupo non stava guardando i fuochi d’artificio. Stava guardando Luka. “Luka.” “Mh?” “Ti piacciono i fuochi d’artificio?” Lei non rispose subito. Dopo un momento, annuì piano. “Sì.” “Perché?” “Perché sono belli.” “È l’unico motivo?” Luka guardò silenziosamente il cielo. “No.” “Come cosa?” “L’ultimo morso.” “Non lo vuoi?” Luka scosse la testa. “Ne prendiamo metà ciascuno.” “Come facciamo a dividerlo?” Luka ci pensò per un momento. Poi sorrise. “Ci saranno ancora i fuochi d’artificio l’anno prossimo?” Gakupo la guardò. “Il mele candito?” Luka scosse la testa. “I fuochi d’artificio.” “Ci saranno.” “Bene.” Lei sorrise. “Allora torniamo insieme l’anno prossimo.”
