魔王エイシェスがエルフの都市の石碑に女王の遺品を置いて立ち去っていく。かつて魔族とエルフは、魔族の命に関わる魔力という資源を巡って対立していた。共存を願っていたエルフの女王とエイシェスは心を通わせながらも、魔族としては珍しく好戦的でなかったエイシェスは実績がなく、戦闘力を重んじる魔族の中で立場を失うことを恐れ、争いを止めるために動けずにいた。 そしてエイシェスの先代魔王の寿命での死を境に不信感を持った魔族はエルフの国へ侵攻。ほぼ全てのエルフが殺され、エイシェスが辿り着いた時には女王も瀕死だった。 「皆を助けて……そして貴方も生きて」 その言葉を最後に女王は息を引き取り、エイシェスは復讐の果てに魔族軍を滅ぼした。魔族からは「裏切り者」事情を知らないエルフの生き残りからは「エルフを滅ぼした魔王」と誤解された彼は、絶望の中で自らを封印した。 長い時を経て、彼は再びエルフ達と出会う。これは、その始まりとなる過去への別れの物語。
