Starlight Belonging Only to Us - Vocaloid 神威x巡音
💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 The last fireworks of the festival gradually faded from the night sky, but the riverbanks remained filled with the lively atmosphere of the evening. Laughter echoed in the distance, the vendors continued calling out to passersby, and the lanterns lining the streets still glowed warmly, illuminating the summer night. Kamui Gakupo and Megurine Luka had no intention of leaving just yet. They remained seated beside the river, their shoulders pressed close together. Luka rested against Gakupo's shoulder, her fingers intertwined with his. Every now and then, she would lift her head to look at the sky, which was slowly returning to its usual tranquility. She seemed reluctant to let their wonderful evening at the fireworks festival come to an end. Gakupo turned his head slightly to look at the woman nestled against him. "Not ready to go home yet?" Luka gently shook her head. "Mm... I want to stay a little longer." "Then let's stay a little longer." He neither urged her to leave nor reminded her that it was getting late. He simply held her hand a little more firmly, allowing her to lean against him as comfortably as she wished. Luka lifted her face, the lights along the river reflecting in her blue eyes. "Actually, I still want to play with sparklers." Gakupo paused for a moment before smiling. "I had a feeling you weren't finished playing yet." "Because they're so much fun!" She smiled a little shyly. "Besides, we only played with them for a little while earlier." "Is that so? It seems I didn't prepare enough, then." "Do you have any more?" "Of course." Gakupo took out the remaining sparklers from the bag beside him. Luka immediately sat up straight, anticipation returning to her eyes. Seeing how happy she was, he couldn't help thinking that preparing these little surprises for her had been the right decision after all. The two of them stood up again and headed to a designated area where sparklers could be used safely. After checking that the surroundings were suitable, Gakupo took out two sparklers and handed one to Luka. "How would you like to play this time?" Luka lowered her head and thought for a moment before suddenly smiling. "How about we try drawing something other than circles?" "Do you have a new idea?" "Hmm... could we try drawing a heart together?" Gakupo looked at her, a faint smile appearing in his eyes. "A heart?" "Yes! Don't you think that would be romantic?" "That certainly sounds romantic." His answer was so straightforward that Luka suddenly felt embarrassed. "You don't have to answer so directly..." "But you asked what I thought." "I just wanted to hear your opinion!" Gakupo chuckled softly and decided not to tease her any further. Instead, he moved to stand beside her. "Then let's give it a try." They each held a sparkler and waited until the sparks burned steadily before slowly moving their hands through the air. Luka took responsibility for drawing one side of the heart, while Gakupo matched her movements, trying to make their golden trails meet in the middle. On their first attempt, their movements failed to synchronize. The shape they drew in the air was crooked, eventually turning into something rather unusual. Luka watched the fading trail of light and couldn't help laughing. "Is our heart a little too strange?" "I think it has a unique character." "Are you trying to comfort me?" "I'm complimenting our creativity." Luka laughed even harder, and whatever disappointment she had felt over their failed attempt disappeared with his answer. "Let's try again!" "All right." This time, they deliberately slowed down. Gakupo turned slightly to the side so he could watch Luka's movements more clearly, while she occasionally glanced at him to check his progress. Their sparklers traced similar arcs through the darkness, their golden sparks briefly intertwining. Although the result still wasn't perfect, it came much closer to the shape they had imagined. "We did it!" Luka turned toward Gakupo excitedly, her eyes filled with delight. "Did you see that? This one really looks like a heart!" "I saw it." "Isn't it beautiful?" "Very beautiful." Gakupo's gaze rested on her face, his voice so gentle that she couldn't help looking at him a little longer. "I meant the heart we drew together," she reminded him quietly. "So did I." "Gakupo..." She finally realized that he was deliberately teasing her again. Luka lightly bumped her shoulder against his, although she wasn't genuinely upset. Instead, she smiled and raised her sparkler slightly. Tiny sparks continued to flicker, casting a warm glow between them. Watching her smile, Gakupo suddenly felt that he wouldn't mind if the night lasted several more hours. He loved seeing Luka happy. He loved the way her face lit up over even the smallest surprise and how freely she shared her joy with him. Most of all, he loved knowing that even without magnificent fireworks or bustling streets, they could always find something to enjoy together. "Luka." "Hm?" "Stay and play with me a little longer." She blinked in surprise. "Wasn't I the one who said I wanted to keep playing?" "Yes." Gakupo smiled. "But now I'm the one who doesn't want this moment to end so soon." Luka fell silent for a moment. The evening breeze swept past them, lifting her long pink hair over her shoulders. She gazed at the man before her, who always seemed so calm and composed but somehow managed to say heart-fluttering things when she least expected them. A soft smile gradually appeared on her lips. "All right." She held out her hand to him. "Then let's play a little longer." Gakupo took her hand and brought out another sparkler. This time, they didn't try to create any particular shapes. Luka held her sparkler and gently traced arcs through the air, occasionally rotating her wrist to form little circles of light. Gakupo stood beside her, matching her rhythm as he left his own glowing trails in the darkness. Sometimes, Luka would suddenly extend her sparkler to one side, as though trying to catch an invisible star. At other times, she would turn toward Gakupo and invite him to create a new pattern with her. He patiently indulged her every whim. Even when she changed her mind halfway through, or when their light trails crossed into a tangled mess, he never showed the slightest impatience. For him, being able to laugh alongside her was more than enough. When the sparkler in Luka's hand gradually burned down, she looked at the last few golden sparks and suddenly spoke softly. "I used to play with sparklers when I was little, too." "Really?" "Mm. But back then, I always wished the light would last a little longer." She paused slightly, watching the sparks fade from the wire. "Every time I had just started enjoying myself, the sparkler would already be finished." Gakupo listened without interrupting. Only after the sparks had completely disappeared did he place his own used sparkler in the designated container. He then turned toward her and gently brushed the strands of hair the wind had tousled away from her face. "But you still have plenty of chances ahead of you." Luka lifted her head. "Plenty of chances?" "Mm." He gazed into her eyes. "Today will end, but there will still be tomorrow. We've finished these sparklers, but we can always buy more in the future." His tone was calm, as though he were simply stating something perfectly ordinary. "You don't have to feel sad just because a beautiful moment is about to end. We can create many more beautiful memories together." Luka looked at him quietly. She knew he wasn't talking only about sparklers. He was telling her that even though the happiness of a particular moment would eventually come to an end, it didn't mean all the beautiful things would disappear with it. As long as they were willing to keep walking forward together, there would always be new scenery, new dates, and more moments worth treasuring. Her heart slowly softened. "Then, every summer from now on, let's play with sparklers together, all right?" "All right." "Not just watching fireworks. We should also save some time just for ourselves." "Of course." "And it doesn't matter if there isn't a fireworks festival." Gakupo lowered his head slightly, meeting her gaze. "As long as I'm with you, anywhere is fine." A faint blush spread across Luka's cheeks. She wrapped her arms around his waist and gently buried her face against his chest. Gakupo froze for a moment before wrapping both arms around her, holding her securely against him. His palm moved gently across her back as he felt her settle quietly into his embrace. "What's wrong?" he asked softly. "Nothing." Luka's voice was muffled against his chest, but it carried a hint of unmistakable happiness. "I just feel really happy today." Gakupo lowered his head and rested his chin lightly on the crown of her head. "Me too." They remained in each other's arms for a while before Luka slowly lifted her head. "Then let's save the remaining sparklers for next time." "All right. We'll save them for our next date." "You're already planning our next date?" "Wouldn't you look forward to it?" Luka smiled and nodded. "I would." She took his hand again, walking beside him toward the streets that would lead them home. As they passed the stalls that were still illuminated by lanterns, they bought a few more snacks to enjoy later. The streets were much less crowded than before, and the sounds of the festival gradually faded into the distance. At last, the summer night revealed its quieter side. After walking for a while, Luka moved a little closer to Gakupo, letting her shoulder brush gently against his arm. Noticing her movement, Gakupo naturally slowed his pace to match hers. They no longer talked about the fireworks, nor did they rush to decide where they would go for their next date. For now, their intertwined hands, their figures walking side by side, and the ease of being together without needing to search for something to say were more than enough. The fireworks had ended for the night, and the sparklers had been put away for now. Yet, for them, the evening had not truly come to an end. The laughter they had shared while playing, the warmth of their embrace, and their promises to spend every summer together in the future would continue to accompany them. And the next time they picked up their sparklers, Gakupo would still be standing beside Luka, helping her trace tiny sparks across the night. Just like now, even without magnificent fireworks illuminating the sky, they would always be able to find a light that belonged only to the two of them in each other's company.
