💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 The Aesthetics of Autumn The afternoon breeze had turned slightly cooler than before. Luka was still leaning against Gakupo's shoulder, and neither of them was in any hurry to head back to the room. The maple trees in the courtyard swayed gently in the breeze, and every so often a leaf broke free from its branch, drifting slowly down to the ground. Luka watched for a long while, then suddenly spoke. "Gakupo." "Mm?" "Do you think autumn is beautiful?" Gakupo looked out at the courtyard. "It's beautiful." "Just beautiful?" "What else would it be?" Luka laughed softly. "I think autumn has a very particular kind of beauty." "What makes it particular?" She thought for a moment. "It's not lively like spring." "Not as full of energy as summer." "And not as quiet as winter, either." Luka raised her eyes to look at the branches. "Autumn seems to sit somewhere between a lot of things." Gakupo didn't interrupt her. "It's clearly losing something, and yet it doesn't feel sad." "The maple leaves are leaving the trees." "Mm." Luka reached out and caught a leaf that happened to drift down. "You know it's going to fall in the end, but right before it does, it somehow becomes even more beautiful." Gakupo looked at the leaf in her hand. "So you think autumn's beauty comes from knowing it won't last forever?" "Maybe." Luka looked down at the leaf. "Some kinds of beauty might exist precisely because they're brief." Gakupo fell silent for a moment. "That reminds me of the stage." Luka looked up. "The stage?" "Mm." He gazed toward the little bridge in the distance. "Concerts are the same way." "So much preparation, and then once it actually starts, it only lasts a few short hours." "The lights come up, the music begins, and everyone sings together." "And then it ends." Luka listened quietly. "If a concert never ended, maybe people wouldn't cherish it as much." She nodded gently. "So you think the stage is like autumn too?" "In a way." "I'd never thought of it that way before." Luka leaned back against his shoulder again. "But I like that idea." They fell quiet for a while. "So besides the maple leaves, what other aesthetics do you think autumn has?" Luka suddenly asked. Gakupo thought about it. "Sound." "Sound?" "Mm." He pointed toward the courtyard. "The river." Luka fell quiet too, listening. The faint sound of flowing water drifted up from beneath the little bridge. Unhurried, and never noisy. Simply flowing, continuously. "And the wind." The wind passed through the leaves. Its rustling wove together with the sound of the river. "And tea." Luka looked down at the teacup on the table. "Are you just making things up now?" "I'm not." Gakupo answered with a perfectly straight face. "Tea is part of autumn's aesthetic too." Luka couldn't help but laugh. "Why is that?" "Because autumn is suited to drinking slowly." "What kind of reason is that?" "A very good one." Luka laughed and shook her head. "Then let me try too." She thought for a moment. "Autumn's aesthetic is... waiting." Gakupo looked at her. "Waiting?" "Mm." "Waiting for the leaves to fall, waiting for the weather to turn cool, and waiting for the next season." Her voice was very soft. "Autumn seems to keep telling people that not everything has to happen right away." Gakupo paused slightly. The words seemed to be more than just her thoughts on autumn. "Have you been too worn out lately?" Luka blinked. "Why do you say that?" "Because you seem to need waiting, in some way." She was quiet for a moment. Then she laughed softly. "Maybe." "I always feel like everything has to get done right away." "New songs to prepare, stage rehearsals, interviews to answer, filming to finish." "Every day feels like chasing after something." She gazed out at the courtyard. "But autumn doesn't seem to rush anyone." Gakupo said nothing. Luka went on. "The maple leaves won't all fall at once just because we're waiting for them to." "And the river won't flow any faster just because we wish it would." "So sitting here like this, I feel like... it's alright to slow down a little." Gakupo looked down at her. "Mm." Just a single, simple word. But it brought a look of ease to Luka's face. "You think so too?" "I think what you said was really good." "Really?" "Really." Gakupo picked up his teacup and took a sip. "And I think autumn has another kind of beauty, too." "What is it?" "Empty space." Luka's eyes widened slightly. "Empty space?" "Mm." He set down his teacup. "After the leaves fall, the branches slowly become bare." "The courtyard opens up more, too." "But emptiness doesn't mean there's nothing there." Luka watched him quietly. "It actually makes people notice things they never noticed before." She followed Gakupo's gaze. A small patch of sky that had once been hidden by leaves was now visible. The outline of the little bridge had also become clearer. "That really does seem similar." "Mm." "So autumn isn't only about beauty in full bloom." "There's also beauty after things fade." Gakupo nodded. "And in what's left behind." Luka said nothing. She simply leaned a little closer. Shoulder pressed against shoulder. They watched the courtyard together. In that moment, they both suddenly understood something. Perhaps what truly draws people to autumn isn't really how beautiful the maple leaves are, but the way it makes people start noticing things they usually overlook. The sound of a single leaf falling. The steam rising from a teacup. The sound of the river flowing beneath the bridge. That quiet sense of security that needs no words, when someone is simply there beside you. Luka said softly: "I think we should remember today." "Why?" "Because this is part of our lives as idols too." She smiled faintly. "Not just the versions of us up on stage." "But also the versions of us sitting here right now, drinking tea, looking at the maple leaves." Gakupo looked at her. "Then let's remember it." "Mm." Luka turned to look ahead again. "Someday, when we're too busy and forget what autumn even looks like, we can come back and see it again." Gakupo smiled. "Okay." Neither of them set an exact date. Nor did they say for certain when the next time would be. They simply let this afternoon settle quietly into each other's hearts. Just like autumn itself. It doesn't rush. It doesn't try to hold on. It only lets each moment happen slowly, in its own time. Luka osservò a lungo, poi improvvisamente parlò. "Gakupo." "Mm?" "Pensi che l'autunno sia bello?" Gakupo guardò verso il cortile. "È bello." "Solo bello?" "Cos'altro dovrebbe essere?" Luka rise piano. "In cosa è particolare?" "L'autunno sembra stare in mezzo a tante cose." "Forse." Luka guardò la foglia, abbassando lo sguardo. "Forse certe bellezze esistono proprio perché sono passeggere." Gakupo rimase in silenzio per un momento. "Questo mi fa pensare al palco." Luka alzò lo sguardo. "Il palco?" "Mm." "E poi finisce." Luka ascoltava in silenzio. "Mm." Semplicemente scorreva, in continuazione. "Mm." Spalla contro spalla. Guardarono insieme il cortile. In quel momento, entrambi capirono improvvisamente qualcosa. "Allora ricordiamocelo." "Mm." Luka tornò a guardare avanti. Proprio come l'autunno.
