character: flandre_scarlet, artist: kuroboshi_kouhaku, tsunako, copyright: touhou crouching, curled up, fetal position, knees drawn up to chest, arms wrapped around own knees, 1girl, solo, head out of frame, upper face cropped by top edge of image, chin and mouth visible, mouth curved in a faint closed-lip smile, looking at viewer, direct gaze from lowered head, blonde long hair, side ponytail, red eyes, mob cap, puffy short sleeves, frilled shirt and vest, ribbon at collar, red skirt, colorful wings, rainbow-hued crystal wings spread behind her shoulders, folded close around her back, darkness, dark void background, only the figure lit, novice look up from below, from below, foreshortening, floating decorative particles, dim ambient ash motes, muted pastel palette with vibrant accent colors on the wings, soft diffused key light from below, rim light along her shoulders, soft cel-shading, delicate clean linework, watercolor-like washes, matte finish, subtle grain, atmospheric haze, layered spatial depth, dreamy ethereal ambiance, quiet, eerie charm The camera looks up at her from below, close and low, so the top edge of the frame cuts clean across her face just above the nose: her eyes stay outside the picture and only her chin, the corner of her mouth and the tip of her nose remain, angled down on us. She sits curled tight on nothing at all, her weight settled back on her hips and the outsides of her feet, both knees pulled up against her chest, both arms folded around those knees, hands gripped at the opposite forearms, elbows tucked to her shins. Her long blonde hair falls forward over the knees and pools in a fan across the dark, the side ponytail slipping down past her cheek out of the crop; the mob cap sits high, its brim just clipped by the frame. Her wings spring from behind her shoulders, spread wide and folded low around her back, their colors catching the light in shifting facets, one wingtip disappearing into the blackness behind her hip. She is turned a little toward us and her gaze, though her eyes lie beyond the border, comes straight down the axis of the lens and holds there. Behind and around her is pure dark, unmarked and edgeless, with no floor line and no sky: the only light is a soft cool glow rising from in front of and below her, illuminating the undersides of her knees, her forearms, the underside of her chin and the front faces of the wings, while her back and shoulders dissolve into shadow and the rim of her silhouette fades into the black. The light is exclusive — beyond the small pool that holds her the darkness is absolute. A few pale particles drift through that pool, brightest where the light is strongest, then swallowed. Color is rationed: the darkness takes almost all of the frame, her hair is warm gold, her dress a muted wine red and cream, and the wings alone carry full saturated color — turquoise, magenta, amber and violet blooming off the crystal panels. The rendering keeps delicate clean linework, soft cel-shading and watercolor-like washes over a matte surface, with faint grain in the dark and atmospheric haze softening the edges of the glow. Still, hushed, faintly unsettling.
