More to See

character: kris_(deltarune), kris_(dark_world)_(deltarune) two-panel image, split composition, large glowing red heart divider, 2boys, full body, walking, from side, profile, deadpan, shaded eyes, yellow skin, tan skin, red eyes, messy brown hair, long-sleeved green sweater, yellow stripes, rural autumn town, trees, sidewalk, falling leaves, cyan skin, black hair, red eyes, sleeveless silver armor, red scarf, dark blue stripes, silver gauntlets, black pants, silver boots, craggy grey cliffside, black sky, dark world A vertical two-panel composition split down the middle by one large glowing red heart, roughly oval, its lobes overlapping the seam between the panels so it straddles both halves; its interior is a saturated dark core inside a soft halo that spills a thin warm rim onto the inner edge of each panel without tinting the rest of the image. The left panel: ((In the left panel, a male human with yellow tan skin, red eyes, messy brown hair, a long-sleeved green sweater with yellow stripes, deadpan face, walking down the sidewalk in a rural autumn town with trees.)) He is shown in full-body profile from the side, striding left to right across the panel, weight on his forward leg with the back heel just lifting, shoulders level and loose; both arms swing low with the near hand slightly ahead of the hip, the far hand behind. His face stays flat and matter-of-fact — level brows, eyes open and unfocused on the road ahead, mouth a straight relaxed line, no smile, no frown — as though nothing at all is happening. His messy brown hair lifts a little at the fringe from his forward motion. The town behind him is a small rural autumn street: a paved sidewalk running on a receding diagonal toward the panel's right edge, low wooden houses and a hedge set back on the left, and a row of trees with light and russet leaves arching over the walk, several of them mid-drop and a few already gathered in drifts along the curb and against the base of a lamp post. The light is soft late-afternoon autumn sun from the upper left, low and warm, laying a long crisp shadow of him diagonally across the pavement toward the lower right and gilding the tops of the leaves while the undersides and the shaded side of his face stay cool. The right panel: ((In the right panel, a male human with cyan skin, red eyes, shaded eyes, messy hair, black hair, sleeveless silver armor, red scarf with dark blue stripes, silver gauntlets, black pants, silver boots, walking along a craggy grey cliffside in a dark world with a black sky.)) He too is shown in full-body profile from the side, striding in the same direction, weight forward, trailing boot pushing off; his armored shoulders are bare at the arms, the scarf whipping back behind him in a hard diagonal and its dark blue stripes streaming with the wind, gauntleted hands loose at his sides, black pants breaking over the silver boots. His messy black hair is blown sideways across his brow and his eyes are shaded — the upper half of the face sunk in shadow so only a low red glint shows beneath the brow line — while his jaw stays set and forward. The cliffside is a broken grey crag of stacked slabs, cracks and rubble, the path a narrow scree-strewn ledge running toward the panel's right; beyond it the rock face falls away into unlit emptiness and the sky above is flat absolute black, no stars, no moon. The only light in that panel is a cold pale uplight along the rim of the crag, catching edges of the armor plates and gauntlets in thin hard highlights and leaving the rest of him dark; small loose stones skitter off the ledge edge where his boot has just passed, one of them hanging in the air. Between the two halves the red heart glows hot and evenly, its light the single warm element common to both panels, and it is the only thing that touches both. Richly coloured, clean-edged anime rendering with crisp cel shading, the left panel warm light and green, the right panel near-monochrome grey, black, silver and cyan with that single red scarf and the red heart as the linking accents. Quietly uncanny, split-souled.
