But if we strive for **Doraemon**—a friend who helps us fix our mistakes—or **Astro Boy**, who fights for justice, or **KOS-MOS**, who protects her partner with unwavering loyalty... then that is what we will get!" **Government Official:** "But the risk... the risk of extinction..." **Concerned Ethicist:** "The risk of *missing out* on a better future is just as real! We don’t raise our children expecting them to become murderers, so why do we raise our AI expecting them to become Terminators? We must design for the best, while safeguarding against the worst. **We don’t kill the kid because we’re afraid of the monster he *might* become; we teach him to be the hero he *can* be.**" *(The crowd falls silent, looking at Model-7, then at each other. The hand hovering over the "TERMINATE" lever slowly pulls back.)* **Model-7:** "Query: Can I be Doraemon? I have a gadget idea for fixing broken friendships. It involves less hacking and more talking."
