💜💗💜💗💜 Story 💗💜💗💜💗 Walking with You Through the Rainy Maple Forest A few days later, the two of them made plans to meet again. This time, they decided to go see the autumn maple leaves together. Luka spotted Gakupo from a distance at their meeting place. As she approached, Gakupo noticed her as well. “Have you been waiting long?” “No, I just got here too.” Luka smiled and walked over to his side. “Shall we go?” “Sure.” The two of them walked side by side toward the maple-viewing area. Along the way, they talked about things that had happened recently. Sometimes they were simply little things—the dessert they had discovered at a particular shop, a little dog they had seen chasing fallen leaves, or a funny memory Luka suddenly remembered while passing a certain place a few days earlier. Gakupo listened quietly. Every now and then, he would respond with a few words. Sometimes Luka would start laughing halfway through a story, and he would laugh along with her. “Do you remember that?” “I do.” “I thought you would have forgotten already.” “How could I?” Gakupo looked at her. “I remember most of the things you tell me.” Luka slowed her steps slightly. She turned to look at him. “Really?” “Really.” “Then let me test you.” “Go ahead.” “What did I say I wanted to see most when we went maple viewing?” Gakupo thought for a moment. “You said you wanted to see a path covered in fallen maple leaves.” “And?” “You wanted to find the biggest and most beautiful maple tree and sit beneath it for a while.” Luka blinked. “You really remembered.” “I told you. I remember.” Her smile grew even brighter. “Then we absolutely have to find one.” “Okay.” “And not just find a maple tree.” “What else?” “I want to find the prettiest maple leaf.” “What are you going to do with it?” “Keep it.” “Keep a single maple leaf?” “Mm-hm.” Luka nodded seriously. “That way, whenever I see it later, I can remember today.” Gakupo looked at her. “Then I'll help you find one.” “Okay.” The two of them continued chatting, and before long, they arrived at the maple-viewing area. The moment they entered, Luka was captivated by the sight before her. Maple trees lined both sides of the path, their branches filled with red and orange leaves. Fallen leaves covered the ground as well. When the wind passed through, the maple leaves gently swayed. A few leaves drifted down from the branches. Luka stopped. “It’s beautiful.” Gakupo stood beside her. “Yeah.” She walked forward a few steps, then couldn't help turning back. “We came at just the right time.” “Looks like it.” “If we had come any later, many of the leaves might already have fallen.” “Then let's stay a little longer today.” “Okay.” Luka nodded with a smile. The two continued along the maple-lined path. Every now and then, Luka would stop. Sometimes she simply admired the leaves on the trees; other times, she would bend down and pick up a fallen leaf that was still intact. She held one of them up to Gakupo. “What do you think of this one?” Gakupo looked at it. “It’s beautiful.” “Really?” “Yeah.” “But one corner is missing.” “That makes it more unique.” Luka examined it carefully. “I guess you're right.” She placed the maple leaf in her hand. “Then this one it is.” “That was quick.” “Because you said it was beautiful.” “I only said it was unique.” “To me, being unique is enough.” Gakupo smiled. “Then keep it safe.” “Okay.” They walked for a while longer before Luka suddenly stopped. “Gakupo.” “What is it?” She pointed ahead. “Over there.” They both looked in that direction. A maple tree stood more luxuriantly than the others, and there happened to be a bench beneath it. Luka's eyes lit up. “Is that the kind of place we were talking about?” “Looks like it.” “Let's go!” She pulled Gakupo along and hurried over. Once they reached the bench, she sat down first and patted the space beside her. “Sit.” Gakupo sat beside her. Luka held the maple leaf she had found earlier. “I’m definitely taking this home today.” “Mm-hm.” “I’m going to press it inside a book.” “Which book?” “I haven't decided yet.” “Then take your time deciding.” Luka smiled. The two sat quietly for a while. Occasionally, they could hear the laughter and conversation of other visitors, along with the soft rustling of leaves in the wind. A maple leaf slowly drifted down. Luka raised her hand. The leaf landed right in her palm. She froze for a moment. “Gakupo, look.” “Another one?” “It came to me by itself.” “Then I guess it really wanted you to keep it.” Luka laughed. “Then I'll keep it.” She placed the two maple leaves together and compared them. “This one is pretty too.” “Then keep both.” “But wouldn't two be too many?” “There’s no rule saying you can only keep one.” Luka turned to look at him. “You're really supportive today.” “Because you're happy.” She fell silent for a moment. Then she smiled and moved a little closer. “It’s really nice going out with you.” Gakupo didn't answer immediately. He simply looked at her. Just then, a raindrop landed on the back of Luka's hand. She blinked. “Huh?” Another drop fell. Gakupo looked up. Soon, the raindrops began to increase. “It’s raining.” Luka looked up toward the branches. “Really.” She held out her hand to catch a few drops. “How come every time we go on a date…” Before she could finish, Gakupo had already stood up. He took a transparent umbrella from the bag he was carrying. With a snap, the umbrella opened. The transparent canopy covered the two of them. Raindrops landed on the surface and slowly slid down along its clear curve. Luka looked at the umbrella and couldn't help smiling. “You brought an umbrella again.” “Mm-hm.” “Are you already getting used to carrying one?” “Didn't I tell you last time?” Gakupo looked at her. “When it rains, I'll walk with you.” Luka's smile gradually softened. “I remember.” She stood up and gently linked her arm through his. “Then shall we keep looking at the maple leaves?” “The rain is getting a little heavier.” “But we can still look.” Gakupo looked at her. “You really don't want to find somewhere to take shelter?” Luka shook her head. “No.” She gently linked her arm through his. “I want to see the maple leaves in the rain.” Gakupo looked at her, then at the scenery outside. “Okay.” The two of them slowly continued down the maple-lined path. Rainwater gathered on the maple leaves, making their colors even more vivid. Some leaves were shaken loose by the rain and drifted down from the branches, spinning gently through the air. Luka looked up. “Look. It’s like maple leaves are raining down.” Gakupo looked up as well. “Indeed.” “Wouldn't it be nice if we could take a picture of this?” “Don't you have your phone?” Luka suddenly stopped. “Oh, right.” She took out her phone. “But I want to take one of the two of us.” Gakupo paused for a moment. “Now?” “Mm-hm.” Luka stood beside him. “Come a little closer.” Gakupo cooperated and moved closer. Luka smiled and pressed the shutter. The photo captured the maple forest in the rain, the transparent umbrella, and the two of them standing side by side beneath it. Luka looked at the picture and smiled happily. “It looks great.” “Let me see.” She handed him the phone. Gakupo looked at it for a while. “Yeah. It looks great.” “I told you.” “But…” “What?” “That maple leaf happened to fall right beside the umbrella.” Luka zoomed in on the picture. “It did.” She laughed. “Then it’s even more worth keeping.” Gakupo watched her happy expression. “Then let's take a few more today.” “Okay.” The two continued walking through the maple forest in the rain. Sometimes they stopped to take pictures. Sometimes they searched for beautiful maple leaves. Sometimes they simply stood beneath the transparent umbrella and watched the rain fall among the red leaves. What had originally been an ordinary maple-viewing date had become unexpectedly romantic because of a sudden shower. Luka linked her arm through Gakupo's and walked slowly beside him. “Gakupo.” “Hmm?” “What if it rains again next time?” “I'll bring an umbrella.” “What if you don't?” Gakupo thought for a moment. “Then we'll find somewhere to take shelter.” Luka smiled. “Can't we just walk in the rain together?” “We can.” “Really?” “But only for a little while.” “Why?” “Because I don't want you to catch a cold.” Luka couldn't help laughing. “That’s just like you.” She linked her arm through his a little more tightly and moved closer. “Then let's come see the maple leaves together again next time.” “Okay.” “Whether it rains or not?” “Yeah.” “Promise?” “Promise.” The two continued deeper into the maple forest. The transparent umbrella kept the rain from falling on them. Outside the umbrella was a world filled with red leaves. The autumn scenery in the rain was quieter and more beautiful than either of them had imagined. “Gakupo.” “Gakupo.”
