Gakupo held the umbrella in one hand while his other hand rested naturally at his side. Luka was still holding onto his arm as the two of them slowly walked along the maple-lined path. After walking for a while, Luka looked up at the transparent umbrella in Gakupo's hand. She was quiet for a few seconds before softly saying, “Gakupo, let me hold the umbrella too.” Gakupo was slightly taken aback. “Hmm?” “I feel a little embarrassed letting you hold it the whole time.” Luka's tone was earnest. She raised her hand and pointed toward the transparent umbrella. “We came out together. I can't possibly let you hold the umbrella for me the entire time.” Gakupo looked at her and couldn't help smiling. “It’s fine.” “Are you sure?” “Yes.” He tilted the umbrella slightly toward Luka so the rain wouldn't get too close to her. “I can take care of this.” But Luka didn't seem reassured. She continued looking at the umbrella, her brows slightly furrowed. “But…” “But?” “I just feel bad about making you hold it the whole time.” She sounded a little embarrassed, but she clearly wasn't going to give up on the idea. Gakupo watched her serious expression and finally understood that she wasn't merely being polite. If he kept saying “It’s fine,” it would probably only make her feel more bothered. So he stopped walking. “All right.” Luka blinked. “All right?” Gakupo handed her the handle of the transparent umbrella. “Then you can hold it.” Luka froze for a moment before reaching out to take it. As she grasped the handle, Gakupo naturally adjusted the height of the umbrella for her. “Like this.” “Okay.” “Don't hold it too high.” “I know.” “And don't keep tilting it toward me.” Luka couldn't help laughing at that. “But you were the one who kept tilting it toward me earlier.” “That was because I was the one holding the umbrella for you.” “Now it's my turn.” “That's why I'm reminding you.” Luka gave a soft little hum. “You really are good at taking care of people.” Gakupo didn't answer. He simply smiled at her. The two of them continued walking. This time, the transparent umbrella was in Luka's hands. At first, she wasn't quite used to it. She kept instinctively watching the position of the umbrella, occasionally even glancing down to check whether Gakupo's shoulder was getting wet. Gakupo didn't argue. He simply looked at her hand around the umbrella handle, his expression growing gentler. After they had walked a little farther, a street corner appeared ahead. Gakupo glanced toward it and said to Luka, “Then let's do this.” Luka looked at him curiously. “Do what?” “When we reach that street, I'll take it again.” “Huh?” “You said you felt bad about making me hold it the whole time, didn't you?” There was a hint of amusement in Gakupo's calm voice. “Then we'll take turns.” “Take turns?” “Yeah.” He gently pointed toward the street ahead. “You hold it for this part. When we reach that street, I'll take it.” Luka stared at him before slowly smiling. “So that's what you meant.” “Otherwise?” “I thought you'd just keep saying it was fine.” Gakupo smiled and shook his head. “If it really bothers you, I can't just keep telling you not to worry about it.” Hearing that, Luka felt something softly touch her heart. She didn't answer immediately. Instead, she tightened her grip on the transparent umbrella and then naturally slipped her arm through Gakupo's again. This time, the gesture felt even more natural than before. “Then it's a promise.” “Mm.” “When we reach that street, it's your turn.” “All right.” “You can't forget.” “I won't.” Luka smiled. The rain continued falling against the transparent umbrella, making the maple leaves look even more vivid. Neither of them hurried. If anything, their steps seemed to slow down a little. Because they both knew that when they reached the street ahead, the umbrella would return to Gakupo's hands.
